The Conco Companies is providing commercial concrete services for the construction of the Block 216 Tower in Portland, Oregon. Conco was chosen for the project based on their ability to perform safely and efficiently on large scale projects within scheduled timeframes.
Designed by GBD Architects, Block 216 is an area in downtown that was previously only used for parking and street vendors. The structure is a 35-story building with multiple purposes, including a hotel, business space, and residential condo space. It also includes an underground parking garage. There are 4 floors of amenities, including a terrace, restaurant, gym, and bar which will be available to Block 216 residents.
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) has given the project a Gold rating, and the building will be incorporated into the Green Loop of Portland’s Central City. The Green Loop is an effort to connect the areas within Central City through increased mobility by foot, bike, or other mobility devices. The Green Loop requires a 12-foot space behind the property line for buildings near parks.
Block 216 is the largest project in the Portland market within the last ten years. The structure is expected to bring revenue for local businesses in Portland.
Conco started providing concrete services in February of 2020. Services include formwork, reinforcement, pumping, and shotcrete. The project’s main scope is expected to be complete by March 2022.
