The concrete scope of Esterra Park Block 3 is slated for completion June 2020.

The Conco Companies is providing concrete services for Esterra Park Block 3. Conco services include concrete finishing, pumping, reinforcement, formwork, construction trucking, and shotcrete. The concrete pour for Block 3 began in June 2019 and is expected to be completed June 2020.

Located in Redmond, Washington, The Esterra project is a 30-acre master planned community adjacent to Overlake Light Rail Station and the Microsoft Campus. It’s built on an open-space concept, where occupants can live, work, and socialize year-round. The project will expand roughly 235,000 square feet of additional office space.

The Conco Companies is meeting the challenges of implementing a structure that is designed to maximize lower level parking. We are pouring concrete for three lower levels of parking with seven levels of office space above. Conco recently finished work on adjacent Blocks 5 and 6A. In addition, we are part of the construction team on an upcoming project for Blocks 2A/2B.

The Esterra Park Block 3 project represents a segment of a large-scale plan to develop the area, which will be known as Overlake Village Station.

Conco’s mission is to be the best supplier of commercial concrete services in the Western United States and to bring experience, expertise and quality to each project. We continue to upgrade and expand facilities to better serve the growing market for public works projects, commercial, educational, parking structures, and other construction development. The Marriott Hotel is slated to open a new franchise, the Moxy Hotel in Portland, in the Pearl District in summer of 2020. Construction began in June 2019 on the new project and promises to bring a unique, contemporary take on the hotel experience to the lively neighborhood in downtown Portland. Several notable groups have come together to develop and execute the project, including development company Graves Hospitality, DLR Group Architecture, and Portland commercial concrete contractors The Conco Companies.

A Franchise for the Young and Young-at-Heart

As a new franchise from the well-known Marriott Hotel, the Moxy Hotel is looking to attract a new sector of hotel guests. The stylish interiors, contemporary designs, and vibrant urban locations are being offered at an affordable price for leisure travelers and business professionals alike. With the vision of immersing guests in the cityscape around them while providing smart, modern accommodations, the Moxy Hotel boasts several unique features. The 197 guest rooms will offer views of the city and Mt. Hood through floor-to-ceiling glass walls in their corridors, while the hotel’s public spaces will offer a range of sought-after amenities. The Moxy Hotel promises an open and engaging ground floor space that is designed to draw guests out into the surrounding city. The space will feature large operable glass walls, a full-service bar and lounge area, game rooms, and food carts. Additionally, the exterior is designed with deep canopies extending over the sidewalk for food cart goers to enjoy the offerings no matter the weather.

A Challenging Site for The Moxy Hotel

This exciting project is not only unique in its vision, but also in its dimensions. Situated on less than a quarter of a block, the 12-story hotel has a dainty building footprint. Benjamin Graves, the president and CEO of Graves Hospitality said of the project, “We’re creating an amazing addition to this neighborhood by defying the unthinkable and building 71,232 square feet of ground-up construction on an incredibly compact 7,500 square foot site.” In order to overcome this challenge of construction, the Conco Companies was brought on to provide an array of concrete services. Known for their ability to execute complex projects on time and on budget, Conco will provide concrete pumping, concrete reinforcement and rebar, concrete formwork, and shotcrete services for the Moxy Hotel.

The Conco Companies’ mission is to be the best supplier of concrete services in the Western U.S. and to bring expertise and incomparable quality to each project. Seattle commercial concrete contractors, The Conco Companies, is working with Kirkland Developers, Kirkland Construction Group, and OTAK Architects to bring an immense and exciting new project to The Waterfront Vancouver development.

An Evolution by the Riverside

The waterfront district in downtown Vancouver, Washington has taken many shapes during its lifetime. Once a hub of lumber mills and shipping depots in the 19th century, then a set of shipyards in the early and mid-20th century that produced ships for World Wars I and II, and lastly the home to a paper mill that closed in the 1990s – this industrial area next to the Columbia River has undergone many iterations. None, however, have been quite as dramatic a shift as the district’s newest conception: The Waterfront Vancouver. The Waterfront Vancouver is a massive redevelopment and revitalization project that has turned this industrial area into a bustling mixed-use development that includes residential, commercial, and retail space.

Among the many new buildings rising along the river are Hotel Indigo and Kirkland Tower, the largest project to date in the development. The $100 million project includes not only the four-star, eight-story hotel and the 12-story residential tower with condominiums, but also 17,000 square feet of retail space and multiple high-end dining facilities. Hotel Indigo boasts luxe amenities such as concierge services, valet, dry cleaning, and a dog-washing station, while Kirkland Tower will feature one-, two-, and three-bedroom condos, where residents can also utilize the amenities of the hotel.

Comprehensive Concrete Services for a Large-Scale Project

To begin construction on the project, the Conco Companies provided a 33,357 square foot concrete mat foundation ranging in thickness from four feet to just under six feet and designed to contend with the high water table at the waterfront. In addition to the foundation, Conco will also provide two concrete stair cores and an elevator core, as well as the decks. With the target top-out date of mid-December 2019, Conco is completing one deck pour every 4-5 days, with each deck up to the eighth level requiring three pours to finish. Altogether, Conco will provide the concrete pumping and finishing, concrete reinforcement, concrete formwork, and shotcrete services for the massive project.

The Conco Companies’ mission is to be the best supplier of concrete services in the Western U.S. and to bring expertise and incomparable quality to each project. We continue to upgrade and expand our facilities to better serve the growing market for commercial, educational, parking structures, public works projects, and other development. While the Healthcare District of Denver is home to a constellation of hospitals and healthcare facilities, it is also a bustling area featuring restaurants, retail stores, businesses, and soon, two new high-end multi-family residential buildings. The Broadstone Uptown project will make use of a currently empty lot at the corner of 18th and Marion Street and will bring much needed residential units to the growing city. The project brings together local architects, engineers, and commercial concrete contractors in Denver and promises to introduce over two hundred studio, one bedroom, and two bedroom apartments to the neighborhood, as well as below grade parking for each of the two buildings.

Denver has experienced a huge boom in its population over the past several years, and city officials and local developers have worked diligently to answer the call for more housing. In 2018, reports concluded that Denver needed 32,000 new units to keep pace with the city’s rapid growth, and as a result construction cranes and newly erected high-rise multi-family residential buildings have become ubiquitous features of the cityscape. The Broadstone Uptown project will be a welcome addition to Denver’s housing stock and is slated to begin construction in July 2019.

The development team for The Broadstone Uptown project includes PR III Broadstone Uptown Developers, Enayat Schneider Smith Engineering, and Shear Adkins Rockmore Architects who designed the nearly identical, adjacent nine-story residential buildings. Conco worked closely with these teams for over a year in the planning phase and won the contract for concrete services due to the strong working relationships built in that process and Conco’s competitive pricing. Conco is known for keeping large scale projects on time and budget, two necessary characteristics in the race to build more residential units in Denver. The scope of work for Conco’s turnkey structural concrete services include mat slab foundations, slab on grade, shotcrete foundation walls, cast-in-place columns, elevator and stair core walls in two locations in each building, elevated post-tensioned structural slabs and Epicore topping slabs for the cast-in-place rooftop slabs. Conco will be partnering with a local subcontractor to provide Denver concrete pumping and placing, reinforcing, formwork, and finishing as well as construction trucking.

Conco’s mission is to be the best supplier of concrete services in the Western United States and to bring expertise and unsurpassed quality to each project.  We continue to upgrade and expand facilities to better serve the growing market for public works projects, commercial, educational, parking structures, and other construction development.  Allow us to show you how we can assist your next project with our extensive experience and first-rate Denver concrete services.

2019 SCCA Award - The Conco Companies

Conco Pumping receives the Zero Accidents 2018 Award. The award is presented in recognition of distinctive achievement by a company, individual, or crew that made a substantial contribution to safety and accident prevention.

Every year, the Southern California Contractors Association (SCCA) hosts its annual Safety Awards to recognize the achievements of those in the industry working to create safer, accident-free working environments and job sites. This year’s Safety Awards were held at the Phoenix Club in Anaheim, CA and looked back at all SCCA’s members accomplished in 2018. Los Angeles commercial concrete contractors and other contractors from across the region were in attendance, including The Conco Companies, who walked away with the Zero Accident 2018 award that evening.

Industry leaders: SCCA and Conco Pumping

SCCA is a longstanding membership organization that brings union-affiliated contractors in the construction industry together to foster superior industry standards by encouraging sound business methods, efficiency, and cooperation among contractors. The SCCA accomplishes this by hosting several membership meetings throughout the year and across southern California that provide opportunities for professional development and networking. In addition to these meetings and educational seminars, SCCA also provides legal, labor, and safety resources and advocacy for its members, as well as opportunities to celebrate those who are reaching the high construction industry standards the SCCA is working to promote.

2018 SCCA Zero Accident Award - Conco PumpingThe Safety Awards

TThe SCCA Safety Awards were created to recognize the members who have performed and excelled in accident prevention. SCCA understands the importance of safety within the construction industry, and believes an innovative safety culture, adherence to strict safety practices, and accident-free operations is worth celebrating. At this year’s Safety Awards, the Conco Companies was recognized with the Zero Accidents 2018 award for its stellar record, along with other companies that attained the same laudable accomplishment. Obtaining and maintaining an accident-free record is not an easy feat, as OSHA reports the average rate of recordable incidents within the industry to be multiple incidents per year, per contractor. Conco has worked to mitigate this risk within its own range of concrete services by utilizing a thorough accident prevention program and promoting the vision and initiatives of its safety teams. This combination of diligent safety practices and innovation helped make Conco a worthy candidate for industry recognition at the 2019 Safety Awards.

The Conco Companies’ mission is to be the best supplier of concrete services in the Western U.S. and to bring expertise and incomparable quality to each project. We continue to upgrade and expand our facilities to better serve the growing market for commercial, educational, parking structures, public works projects, and other development.
