Gateway Village - The Conco Companies

The Conco Companies is providing a full range of concrete services on the Gateway Village Project in Santa Clara, CA for the Palo Alto based owner/developer Essex Property Trust, Inc.  The project is designed by BDE Architecture and the general contractor is ZCON Builders.  The structural engineer is FBA Structural Engineers.  The 840,563 sq. ft. project includes a 476-unit apartment building and parking garage wrap. The 6-story building is designed to wrap around a 5-story parking garage with a basement along with an additional 3 to 4 story residential component that surrounds the entire residential units. The parking garage will accommodate 776 vehicles.  The Gateway Village Project is located at the corner of Lawrence Expressway and El Camino Real.

Our responsibilities include providing concrete pumping, reinforcement, formwork, finishing, and shotcrete services.  For the project, we expect to place 29,900 cubic yards of concrete as well as shotcrete.  We are also providing 4,500,000 pounds of rebar and post tension reinforcement.  Conco crews began work in March 2017 and we expect to complete the job in February 2018. 

Along with the residential component to the Gateway Village Project, the 12.6-acre site will also include 108,600 sq. ft. of retail and commercial development. It will offer small courtyards, plazas and open spaces as well as a beautifully landscaped central garden and public plaza that includes a performance area, food kiosks and eating areas, and children’s play areas.  Lush, landscaped pedestrian paths will link retail shops as well as residential housing and provide a safe separation from vehicle traffic.  The apartment residences are set back from the retail area to ensure privacy and quiet.

Avenue One - The Conco Companies

The Conco Companies recently provided concrete services on the Avenue One Project in San Jose, CA for the San Ramon based owner/developer Lennar.  The buildings were designed by the KTGY Architecture + Planning firm and the general contractor was Lennar.  Harris & Sloan Consulting Group was the structural engineer.  The project consists of two residential buildings with a total of 107 units as well as two levels of below grade parking to accommodate 218 vehicles for each building.  The project is located at the corner of Charlotte Drive in the heart of Silicon Valley.    

Conco’s responsibilities on the Avenue One Project included providing concrete pumping, reinforcement, formwork, finishing, and shotcrete services.  During the course of the project, we placed approximately 8,000 cubic yards of concrete along with shotcrete.  We also provided 1,000,000 pounds of rebar and post tension reinforcement.  Conco crews began work on the project in November 2016 and our end of the job was completed in December 2017.

Avenue One offers the convenience of walkability and building’s residents can easily walk to nearby restaurants and retail stores.  San Jose itself offers residents a mild climate as well as thousands of acres of parks and trails, entertainment venues, and educational and art. 

Conco also had the opportunity to work with the project’s architect, KTGY Architecture + Planning on a couple of mixed-use residential towers in Oakland’s Historic Jack London Square Waterfront Warehouse District.  In fact KTGY won a Gold Nugget Merit Award for the 4th & Madison project in the category of “Best on the Boards Multifamily Community.”   We feel honored to work alongside many of the most respected firms in the industry.

Two Recent Parking Garage Projects

The Conco Companies recently completed a parking structure in Fremont, CA and another bigger one in Redwood City. For both projects, we provided a full range of concrete services including concrete pumping, reinforcement, formwork, finishing and shotcrete.

The Innovia Parking Garage Project

Innovia - The Conco Companies

The Innovia Parking Garage Project in Fremont was developed by the Sacramento based owner St. Anton Communities. The project’s architect is CPC Choate Parking Consultants, Inc. and the general contractor is Hurley Contractors Inc. Ficcadenti Waggoner and Castle Structural Engineers served as the structural engineers. The 192,711 sq. ft. garage will have one level at grade and four above grade levels to accommodate 530 vehicles. The project is located at the corner of Lopes Court and Industrial Drive in Fremont, CA.

Conco began the project in May of 2017 and completed it in January, 2018. Our responsibilities included concrete pumping, reinforcement, formwork, finishing, and shotcrete services. During the course of the project we placed 6,798 cubic yards of concrete along with shotcrete. We also provided 1,300,000 pounds of rebar and post tension reinforcement.

The Stanford Redwood City Parking Garage Project

Stanford Redwood City Parking Garage - The Conco Companies

The Stanford Redwood City Parking Garage in Redwood City is the other project, which will be completed in February 2018. Developed by the Stanford University Land, Buildings, & Real Estate, the architect on the 346,741 sq. ft. project is ZGF Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Architects LLP and the general contractor is Devcon Construction Inc. The structural engineer is SEI Structural Engineers Incorporated. The parking garage is located between Broadway & Bay Road, backing up to Second Ave.

The project consists of a below grade parking garage level and 6 levels above grade for a total of 346,741 square feet and 1,041 parking stalls. Conco’s responsibilities on the project included providing concrete pumping, reinforcement, formwork, finishing, and shotcrete services. During the project we will place 20,500 cubic yards of concrete as well as shotcrete. We are also providing 3,100,000 pounds of rebar and post tension reinforcement.

Brooklyn Basin Parcel B - The Conco Companies

The Conco Companies recently completed concrete services on two new residential construction projects in downtown Stockton and Oakland, CA.  Both projects provide much needed housing to the areas and offer street-level retail and commercial space as well as lots of open space.    

The Oakland Brooklyn Basin Parcel B Project is a 7-story residential housing project from developer/owner Signature Development Group.  The architect on the project was Bar Architects and the general contractor was Hawk Development.  FBA, INC. was the structural engineer. Along with 241 housing units, the 308,270 sq. ft. building includes 3,000 square feet of ground floor commercial tenant space and 241 parking spaces.  Located at the corner of Brooklyn Basin Way and 9th Street and adjacent to a park, the waterfront building will have a façade that includes concrete, metal siding, cement and glass. 

Conco’s responsibilities on the project included providing concrete pumping, reinforcement, formwork, finishing, shotcrete, and Confoam services. During the project, we placed 19,850 cubic yards of Confoam and 8,500 cubic yards of concrete as well as shotcrete. We also provided 1,400,000 pounds of rebar and post tension reinforcement.

Anchor Village - The Conco Companies

The other recent residential project we just completed is a 4-story public housing building in Stockton.  The Anchor Village Public Housing Project by owner/developer, Anchor Village Associates, LLP has 51 residential units as well as 52,958 sq. ft. of ground floor commercial tenant space.  The architect was YHLA Architects, general contractor Vaquero Construction, Inc., and structural engineer KPW Structural Engineers, Inc.  There is also 8,000 sq. ft. of community space, 23 parking spots and 68 indoor bicycle parking places.  

Conco began work on the project in July 2017 and finished in December 2017.  Our responsibilities included providing concrete pumping, reinforcement, formwork, finishing, and shotcrete services.  During the project we placed 1,738 cubic yards of concrete as well as shotcrete.  We also provided 330,000 pounds of rebar and post tension reinforcement.

701 3rd Street Hyatt Place- The Conco Companies

The Conco Companies are busy finishing up work on a new 11-story hotel in downtown San Francisco.  The 701 3rd Street Hyatt Place project is near AT&T Park and is being developed by its owner, the Four One Five, LLC c/o Stonebridge Companies.  The general contractor is Charles Pankow Builders and the architect is Stanton Architecture.  DCI Engineers is the project’s structural engineer.  The 230 room, 103,000 sq. ft. hotel is expected to receive LEED Platinum certification for features that include a grey water system, vegetated roofs, and highly sustainable mechanical systems. 

Conco began work on the project in May of 2017 and expects to finish in January, 2018.  Our job responsibilities included providing concrete reinforcement, pumping, formwork, finishing, shotcrete and  Design/Build services.  We were selected for the job due to our understanding and commitment to the project as well as our longstanding relationship with the general contractor, Charles Pankow Builders, who is familiar with our high standards.  The project has provided challenges along the way due to the logistics of its close location to AT&T Park as well as its aggressive schedule; and we are proud to say we have been more than able to meet all of the challenges. 

The building will offer a landscaped public courtyard at ground level as well as a terrace on the 9th floor and a vegetated rooftop terrace that are reserved for hotel guests.  In addition there will be approximately 2,000 gross square feet of ground floor retail space and 15 below‐grade off‐street parking spaces.  As the majority of construction in San Francisco recently has been office buildings and apartment towers, hotels are in high demand and a new hotel development will be most welcomed.
