Upon completion this will be a 740,000 sqft facility including a 30,000 sqft utility plant, a surface parking lot for up to 2,100 vehicles, and 264-bed acute-care medical center. In addition to performing all of the structural concrete work on the project, Conco belted and placed more than 18,000 tons of aggregate underslab material.

When 32 anchor rods failed on the new Bay Bridge in San Francisco, Conco was retained to perform the repairs. The anchor rods had been used to secure the steel bridge deck framing to a concrete crossbeam support at the east end of the pier “E2″. Conco assisted on a permanent fix that involved a complex series of steel saddles and post-tensioned jacket walls that were used to provide the required clamping force to secure the bridge deck framing to the E2 crossbeam.

Conco is responsible for the extensive concrete work. The project consists of slabs in excess of 2,000,000 square feet and will use more than 65,000 cubic yards of concrete.

Conco was awarded a concrete contract by Holland Partners for a 21-story luxury apartment building at 1650 Wewatta, which is next to the historic Union Station in downtown Denver. The project will include 288 apartment units, 260 parking spaces, and approximately 7,000 SF of retail space. We broke ground in early 2013 and should be completed in 2014. This project will be about 18,700 CY when complete.

The Conco Companies are doing the structural concrete work for the new Wilshire Grand Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. As part of the project, Conco broke the Guinness World Record by completing the largest, continuous mat pour at the site. The pour took 21,200 cubic yards, or 82 million pounds, of concrete and was done in just 18 ½ hours. We are also doing a poured-in-place core wall that goes up the building surrounded by slab on metal deck. The core is 130 ft. X 35 ft. with some walls up to 4 ft. thick. In addition, Conco purchased and is using a new state-of-the art electric pump to pump concrete 400 ft. horizontally and then 1,000 ft. vertically to reach the upper levels of the Wilshire tower.
