The Esterra Park Development Project - The Conco Companies (1)The developer on the project is the Lincoln Property Company and the General Contractor is Venture GC. The architect is the Clark Design Group PLLC and the structural engineer is Yu & Trochalakis PLLC. According to the architect, each building is designed to take full advantage of the hillside topography and maximize views. In addition, the buildings offer good solar exposure as well as optimal plaza and courtyard widths and allow for excellent landscape opportunities.

Conco’s full range of responsibilities on the project includes concrete pumping, reinforcement, formwork, shotcrete, and finishing. We were selected for the job not only for our competitive bid but also for our extensive experience on large, challenging projects and the ability and resources to successfully manage an aggressive schedule. We started work in July 2017 and we expect to take approximately 15 months to complete our end. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by February 2019.

Along with residential housing, the Esterra Park development will offer 1.2 million square feet of office space and a 250-room hotel with both overnight and extended stay accommodations. Residents and workers alike will be able to walk a few short blocks to the Overlake Fashion Plaza and Overlake Plaza that offer a variety of retail shopping and restaurants. Also, the development offers easy access to public transportation along with high-quality rail transit to and from Esterra Park that will be available by 2023.

The Conco Companies is one of the foremost suppliers of concrete services for the Western U.S. We got our start in 1959 in the Bay Area by offering clients the best value on a broad range of concrete services and products. Since that time, we have taken a leading role as top concrete contractors in the region. We have four regional offices serving California, Oregon, Nevada, Colorado, and Washington.

The Conco Companies is providing a full range of concrete services for a new 16-story, mixed-use building project that is just getting underway in Portland, OR. The 14 & Glisan high-rise will be comprised of 230 residential units and approximately 4,285 square feet of ground floor retail space. The materials proposed for the tower’s exterior includes pre-cast concrete panel, brick veneer, aluminum storefront glazing and a unitized window wall system. The project also includes three levels of below grade parking to accommodate 201 vehicles.

The project is being developed by the Holland Partner Group and Holland Construction is serving as the General Contractor. The firm of Ankrom Moisan is the architect and the structural engineer is CKC Structural Engineers. The project is expected to be completed by late 2018.

Conco will shortly begin work on the building and will provide concrete pumping, reinforcement, formwork, shotcrete, and finishing. We expect our part of the job to take approximately 10 months during which we will place 16,000 cubic yards of concrete. Along with providing extensive concrete services for the 14 & Glisan tower, we also recently started on another high-rise, the Modera Glisan, directly across the street that is being developed by the Mill Creek Resident Trust Company.

Since the 14 & Glisan tower is located near a historic district, the side of the building facing the older architecture steps down in height so as not to dwarf the lower buildings. The architects explain that “the concept of the building is derived from the character of the surrounding district,” and evokes both the simplicity and mass of the buildings adjacent to the site. The more modern looking glassy top complements much of the rest of the Portland skyline that is comprised of newer, modern-looking towers.

At The Conco Companies, we are one of the leading concrete contractors in the Western U.S. and offer a wide range of quality services and products. Our experience includes providing services for commercial, educational, parking and other construction development as well as public works projects. We serve California, Washington State, Oregon, Colorado and Nevada.

The-I-5-NB-HOV-The-Conco-Companies-Shotcrete-Services (2)The Conco Companies is providing shotcrete services for a new I-5NB HOV lane that runs from Portland Avenue to the Port of Tacoma Road in Tacoma, WA. The full project includes widening the I-5 to make room for the HOV lane as well as the construction of a couple of bridges, reconstructing and improving several interchanges along the route, and repaving all lanes of the highway.

The project is a part of the Washington Department of Transportation’s Tacoma/Pierce County HOV Program. The General Contractor is Hamilton Construction Company who began work on the project in early 2015 and expects to finish by mid-2018. Hamilton specializes in transportation projects and has extensive experience with a variety of large, heavy civil construction projects.

Conco’s responsibilities include providing a specialty shotcrete technique to carve a random board design on the shot-face of the retaining walls. By implementing this technique over a traditional cast-in-place approach, it will save the project an enormous amount of both time and labor costs. Furthermore, to increase efficiency, our crews are doing all of the carving from lifts. This is the first time anyone has done this type of shotcrete work in the Northwest area.

Once the full scope of the project is complete, it will provide numerous benefits to area motorists including improving the highway’s overall safety and traffic flow as well as environmental enhancements. In addition the I-5 will receive an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) upgrade that will make it possible for WSDOT to respond more quickly to accidents and other types of incidents to help reduce traffic delays.

The Conco Companies will begin work on the new Tacoma Convention Center Hotel in August and we expect our part of the project to take approximately 17 months to complete. The $20 million mixed-use high-rise is located on a Tacoma City-owned site that adjoins the Greater Tacoma Trade and Convention Center and will include condominium and retail space in addition to a 300-room Marriott Hotel. The development company is Yareton Investment & Management LLC and the General Contractor is Absher. Ankrom Moisan Architects, Inc. is the architect and the structural engineer is PCS Structural Solutions.

Conco’s range of services will include concrete pumping, reinforcement, formwork, shotcrete, and finishing. Since the new hotel connects to the existing Convention Center and is an active site, one of our challenges involves safely and efficiently setting up the several placing booms that are required for the job. Our crew will also use a self-climbing core form system provided by FCI that allows us to increase productivity and meet tight timelines.

As the project will be the largest one in the city, Conco was selected for the job due to our extensive portfolio and experience with very large projects as well as our ability to handle an aggressive schedule. Moreover one of our first projects in the Northwest was for the Tacoma Marriott Hotel in 2004, which is located across the street from the new job site.

Designed to enhance the conference amenities currently available in the city, the new Convention Center Hotel includes a 10,000 sq. ft. grand ballroom as well as 9,000 sq. ft. of other function rooms within the hotel. A grand promenade will connect the new building to the Tacoma Convention Center and offers regional views of the area including Mt. Rainer. Scheduled to open in the summer of 2019, the tower will be the second tallest building in the city.

At The Conco Companies, we are one of the leading concrete contractors in the Western U.S. and offer a wide range of quality services and products. Our experience includes providing services for commercial, educational, parking and other construction development as well as public works projects. We serve California, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, and Nevada.

The Conco Companies is providing concrete services for The Mark, a 48-story high-rise tower in Seattle, WA that will consist of 528,000 sq. ft. of Class A+ office space, as well as a luxurious 189-room SLS hotel and spa. Conveniently located in the city’s central business district, the stunning beautifully designed tower will incorporate a wide range of “green” building features such as rain water management, photovoltaic glass and light pollution reduction. Scheduled for completion in April, 2017, the tower will bring to the area first-class office space that is highly divisible and offers 9’ 6” windows for natural light and spectacular views.

Concrete Pumping - The Mark

The 5,000 cubic yard mat foundation pour was completed in June, 2015 and required approximately 500 truckloads of concrete over the course of the day. The project also includes a sub-level parking structure comprised of shotcrete perimeter walls and a concrete elevator core. As of May 2016, Levels 5-11 decks have been poured and the core poured to Level 35. When the elevator core reaches Level 35, the remainder of the building steel will be erected in one continuous phase.

The building’s unique geometric facade provides exterior seismic bracing for structural safety as well as column-free floor plates. Unobstructed by columns or bracing, the 13’ 6” floor-to-floor heights will allow for individualized, open plans or heavy build-outs. The Mark is seeking LEED Gold Certification.

The SLS hotel will be a collaborative effort from the Founder and CEO Sam Nazarian, renowned designer Philippe Starck, and chef James Beard. The hotel will also include 15,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, a 5,000 sq. ft. ballroom, sky lounge and two restaurants. Adjacent to the SLS Hotel are two historic buildings. A century-old sanctuary building, the First United Methodist Church, and the Rainier Club. Founded in 1888, the Rainer Club has occupied their current building since 1904.
