The Conco Companies is in the Pre-Construction phase for Amani Apartments, a new apartment building that will be reserved for low- to very low-income households in Los Angeles. Conco will provide the affordable housing community a full range of structural concrete services, including pumping, excavation, formwork, shotcrete, and place and finish.
Developed by Wakeland Housing and managed by RD Olson Construction, the Amani Apartments is scheduled to finish construction by the second quarter of 2022. It will replace a vacant lot with a 5-story building of 54 affordable residential units. Conco will place over 1,000 cubic yards of concrete, with a total of 10,000 square feet of Slab-on-Grade, and a suspended deck.
Each residential unit will be a studio ranging from 393 to 424 square feet, with one unit being 875 square feet. The building features shotcrete columns and walls with board finish, and includes property management offices, community laundry facilities, a common room, an observation deck, and outdoor courtyards.
The new affordable housing community will be located near the historic Victoria Park, at Pico and Crenshaw Boulevards. It is part of Proposition HHH, a $1.2 Billion bond that provides help and housing to homeless and low income residents across Los Angeles, and is one of several Los Angeles affordable housing projects that have chosen Conco for concrete services.
