Conco is providing a wide range of concrete services for Viamonte, a new continuing care retirement community. For Conco, this work includes concrete finishing, concrete pumping, concrete reinforcement, concrete formwork, construction trucking and shotcrete services. This privately funded, market-rate senior community will serve the local areas with a social and community gathering focus.

The project features one and two bedroom units with 15 distinct floor plans that range from 750 to 1,525 sq. ft. Other amenities include common areas situated both inside and outside the building, resident food service facilities, staff support areas, and a guest and staff parking garage. Known for its caliber of design, HKIT Architects received the 2016 Gold Nugget Award of Merit for “Best Senior Housing Community – On the Boards” in recognition of their innovation and design excellence while managing the complex issues of a previous project. Viamonte’s design follows an elegant, contemporary style that fits seamlessly within the neighboring buildings. The buildings boast eye-catching facades that have lively patterns and recesses that are highlighted by balconies. The largest units are located at the corners of the building and have two bedrooms with raised ceilings and clerestory windows. Viamonte will provide levels of care that include independent apartments, assisted livings units, and memory care services.

Conco will be placing approximately 30,000 cubic yards of concrete as well as shotcrete for the building, in addition to providing over 5,000,000 pounds of rebar and post tension reinforcement. The 174 units sit on a 3.8 acre site with a total building area of 297,216 sq. ft. Additionally, Viamonte attained its LEED for Homes Certification. This large site allows residents the ability to take scenic one-mile walks around the block and is conveniently located near The Orchards, a nearby shopping center with dining options. There is also a state-of-the-art fitness facility, as well as a spa, to provide dynamic living options for residents.

Cumulus Tower Project - The Conco Companies

On July 14th, Conco successfully completed over 40,000 square feet of finished slab work for the Cumulus Tower after pouring over 8,000 cubic yards of concrete for the project. This large scale project was first proposed in 2015 and architectural firm Solomon Cordwell Buenz, known for its long history in the residential market, designed this 30-story residential tower. Cumulus Tower will be the first tower in this area of Los Angeles and will be a cornerstone feature of a larger complex that will also include open spaces, offices, and 100,000 square feet of retail, with plans to include a supermarket in the retail space.

Cumulus Tower and the surrounding complex is located in the West Adams neighborhood of Los Angeles and will create 1,210 new apartments. This exciting new development seeks to promote public transit as it provides more housing and retail stores next to new metro rail stations. The Cumulus Tower is located across from the La Cienega / Jefferson station on the Expo light rail line which opened in 2012.

Conco was selected for this large project based on its reputation as the best value in concrete services and its commitment to delivering exceptional quality construction on schedule and budget. This experience was particularly important for the Cumulus Tower as the project requires a fast schedule, that started in June 2018 and will wrap up July 2019. During this timeframe, Conco is providing a range of concrete services including structural concrete forming, structural concrete placement and finishing, pumping, and structural shotcrete services for the project.

The Conco Companies mission is to be the best supplier of concrete services in the Western U.S. and to bring expertise and incomparable quality to each project. We continue to upgrade and expand our facilities to better serve the growing market for commercial, educational, parking structures, public works projects, and other development. Auditorium - Art Complex Cathedral High School - The Conco Companies

The Conco Companies is finishing its work on a new 350 seat theater in Los Angeles. The Arts Complex at Cathedral High School will include an exposed concrete thrust stage and seating area. The thrust stage will extend into the seating area with the audience surrounding three sides of the stage. Conco leveraged its experience to successfully plan and execute the concrete strategy for these fundamental pieces of the auditorium.

Cathedral High School was founded in 1925 by Archbishop John J. Cantwell as the first Los Angeles Archdiocesan high school. The school now enrolls over 700 students, 70% of which use financial aid or academic scholarships to meet the cost of tuition and fees. The school has had tremendous success, with up to 80% of graduates admitted to four-year colleges and universities as well as alumni throughout the community in government, business and education roles. The school launched its Arts’ Matter Campaign to help expand its facilities to include a new Arts Complex at the high school, providing students greater opportunities to develop their interest and skills in the arts as young people.

Conco began working on the project in September 2017 and responsibilities include providing concrete formwork, concrete pumping, concrete finishing and shotcrete services for the project. Conco was selected for this project among a select groups of contractors due to our vast array of concrete services, particularly formwork, pumping, shotcrete, and cast in place concrete, which included both vertical and horizontal construction. Difficult project constraints such as a compact construction site next to the school’s playing fields, making planning and on-time execution essential.  Conco’s vast experience made us the leading candidate for the project. Conco’s work on the project is expected to be completed in April 2018.

The Conco Companies is one of the leading concrete contractors in the Western U.S. and offer a wide range of quality services and products.  Our experience includes providing services for commercial, educational, parking and other construction development as well as public works projects.  We serve California, Washington State, Oregon, Colorado and Nevada.
