Ten Thousand Santa Monica
Location: Century City, CA

Architect: Handel Architects
General Contractor: Swinerton Builders
Interior Design: Shamir Shah Design
Project Cost: $300 million
The Conco Companies recently provided concrete services for Ten Thousand, a very luxurious residential tower that is on track to become one of the area’s iconic architectural landmarks. Named for its street address, 10000 Santa Monica Boulevard, the recently opened 483-foot, 40-story apartment tower is located in Century City at the border of Beverly Hills. The project was the creation of Crescent Heights, a real estate development company based in Miami Beach, Florida. The architect was Handel Architects and the interior design was done by Shamir Shah Design. The general contractor was Swinerton Builders.
According to the architects, the building’s angular glass-sheathed facade was inspired by the work of 20th-century modernists and seamlessly and elegantly intertwines the indoors to the outdoors. The exterior’s multiple panes of glass are slightly angled away from one another to refract sunlight during the day and transform the tower into an illuminated beacon at night.
The tower’s sloping roofline stands out in sharp contrast to the surrounding flat-roofed buildings, and balconies create sharp angles along the north and south facades. The building offers an on-site garage, 75,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenities including an indoor and outdoor pool, and a house staff of 60 to carry out the 5-Star hotel-style services. Ten Thousand offers a sustainable living environment, and is LEED Gold certified by the U.S. Green Building Council.
