For more than 20 years the Community Youth Center has been empowering local youth by cultivating transferable life skills through academic and athletic performance. They are passionate about creating a safe environment to develop dedication, discipline, desire, and the confidence to pursue excellence in all endeavors.

CYC’s goal is to help develop well-rounded, thoughtful, confident, and strong youth. Their programs emphasize character, discipline, and respect through dynamic and challenging classes. The academic centers provide subject-specific tutors, study strategies, and time management skills. They know that as members grow in academic success, so does their confidence.

CYC’s vision has always been to provide the young people in our community the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities and academic support regardless of economic means. It is CYC’s belief that all young people deserve the chance to thrive and seek to remove the barriers that prevent many young people from participating in activities that help create well-rounded adults. To meet their vision, they have created a center that provides high-quality academic and athletic programs with no financial barriers for all young people. CYC provides varied levels of instruction, from beginner to elite, and encourages all students to develop the discipline, work ethic, and desire to excel.

For more than 20 years Conco has been supporting the Community Youth Center. Over the years the value of the CYC has grown substantially, and the dedication of the leadership and the staff has continually gone above and beyond for the growth of the center. Conco is dedicated to the vision of the CYC and is proud to be involved with the continued growth and success of its members.

Steve and Debra Gonsalves began their support of the Yellow Roof Foundation in 2020 not long after the foundation’s founding in 2018.

The Grand Opening of Gonsalves Village April 20, 2022.
Gonsalves Village in Pittsburg, CA was completed in March of 2022 and offers 6 furnished, income-based affordable rental units.

For over 60 years, We Care Services for Children has existed to serve the needs of young children with developmental and or behavioral challenges and their families. From its Concord campuses, We Care has focused on the needs of at-risk children birth to 6 at the time when intervention can have the greatest impact. Services are geared toward the strengths and unique opportunities within each child and family and include a wide range of interventions from foster care support, developmental playgroups, pre-school consultation to prevent expulsions, individual and family therapy, and many more. We Care is committed to meeting the needs of the most vulnerable members of our community now – and for another 60 years.

For over 20 years, Conco’s philanthropy has enabled We Care, and the young children we serve, to thrive. From its support for our Preschool Consultation program – which trains teachers and aides to identify and effectively address problem behaviors in the classroom – to our services for high-risk foster placement, Conco’s generosity, targeted compassion, and strategic partnership has changed – and saved – the lives of some of our community’s most vulnerable children. We could not be more grateful for the investment Conco has made in young children in Contra Costa County.
