Matt Gonsalves, Chairman of the Board
One of the original founders of Conco, Matt previously held the position of President of Conco helping to build the strong company foundation that exists today.
Matt has given back to the industry by initiating the formation of the Concrete Contractors Association. He has also served as the President of the Building Industry of America (BIA). Matt has assisted the California Contractors State Licensing Board by developing test questions for its contractor license exam and working with political representatives to make changes to the cash retention policies in the construction industry.
Matt has worked closely over the years with contractors, developers, owners and engineers on various concrete methodologies with many of his ideas becoming today’s standards and practices. In 2000, Matt was inducted into the CBIF Hall of Fame.
Steve Gonsalves, President and Chief Executive Officer
As President and CEO, Steve takes a hands-on approach participating actively in the daily decisions regarding estimating, bidding, planning and financing. Steve has served in this capacity since 1986.
Steve has literally grown up through the business, starting as a field laborer more than 45 years ago. Through his hard work and leadership, Steve has been the guiding force in rapidly expanding the products, services and geographic range of The Conco Companies to what it is today.
Some of the associations that Steve is an active member of include the Building Industry of America, the Concrete Contractors Association, the Home Builders Association, the Engineering & Utility Contractors Association, and the American Concrete Pumping Association. Outside of work, Steve is active in many charitable affairs including a founding supporter of the Cal State Chico Concrete Management Program and Board Member of the Community Youth Center headquartered in Concord, CA (serving 1500 member kids).
